Report On The Stakeholders Workshop On Training,Compliance and Accreditation Of Construction Workers
1.1. Pursuant to Section 5 of the National Construction Authority Cap 449A the Authority has an
overall mandate to oversee the construction industry and coordinate its development with the
following objectives among others:-
a) Registration of contractors and regulation of their professional undertakings,
b) Accreditation of site supervisors and skilled construction workers,
c) Coordination of the training function in the construction industry,
d) Promoting and ensuringquality assurance in the construction industry,
e) Encouragingstandardization and improvement of construction materials and techniques
f) Developing and publishing a code of conduct for the construction industry.
Since its establishment, the Authority has executed its mandate on the registration of contractors
resulting in the preparation of a primary register consisting of approximately 20,000 contractors
registered in over 45,000 classes of construction works.
The compulsory registration exercise for skilled construction workers and site supervisors has begun. The registration forms can be downloaded here on our website. Skilled construction workers will pay a registration fee of Ksh 1000 every 3 years while site supervisors will pay Ksh 2000 for every 3 years. Come for your official receipts with the confirmation of payment SMS or Bank slip at our county offices located at Nairobi-Industrial area and within the premises of Ministry of Public Works in Kisumu, Mombasa, Nakuru and Kitui. The deadline for payment is April 14th 2014. Ensure that you comply with these stated regulation.
The National Construction Authority (NCA) was founded following the enactment of the National Construction Authority Act No. 41 of 2011.
