How do I apply for a contractor’s practicing license and what are the requirements?

Click on the ‘contractors’ tab then click on ‘register to be a contractor’ then finally click on ‘contractor registration portal’ to access the NCA Contractor application portal.

What are the requirements to register as a contractor?
  • a). Copy of company registration certificate – Certificate of Registration/Certificate of Incorporation
  • b). Valid KRA Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC)
  • c). Academic certificates and testimonials for the technically qualified directors and staff
  • d). NCA Accredited construction workers identification cards
  • e). Certified copy of current business license
  • f). Company audited accounts/bank statements
  • g). Firm’s experience if any (include NCA Registered Projects)
  • h). If applying for the Electrical Installation Sub-class under Electrical Engineering Services, Attach a certificate from the ERC (Energy   Regulatory Commission)
How do I generate my contractor’s practicing license?

Log on to your contractor registration portal, click on my licenses, under your applications, check whether your application status reads Generate license, then you click on the tracking number, at the bottom of the page there’s a button for generate license.

I cannot access my NCA account; wrong password.

Click on the forget password and Reset, a new password will be sent to your email or phone number you used during registration.

How do I check the progress of my application?

Log in to your NCA contractor account with the username and password used during registration of the account, click on my licenses/certificates to view the progress under ‘Application status’

  • i). EO1- Evaluation Officer 1

  • iii). EC- Evaluation Committee
How do I make payments? Application fee, registration fee and training fee?

Once you have logged in to your account, click on the tracking number, click on proceed to make payments, then choose your preferred payment method, make the payment then click complete.

What does ‘update’ mean on my application status?

It means you need to update your application, click on the Tracking No to view the comments, then once you have updated the required documents, resubmit the application for evaluation.

How do I register for a training?

Log on to your NCA contractor portal, click on the Training tab, click on the available trainings, search for your preferred training and click register.

What does “complete” mean?

Complete means once you have attended the training, you fill the feedback form and submit.

How can I change the name of my construction firm?

After changing the company name on the certificate of incorporation/certificate of registration, attach the certificate with the changed name, the Cr12, to info@nca.go.ke

How can I change the contact details for my company?

Send the preferred change of details to our official email address; info@nca.go.ke

What is a defaulter’s fee?

This is when you have failed to renew your practicing license before it expires on June 30 th every financial year. Once you have defaulted, you are required to pay a defaulter fee (which is on our website) for every financial year you have defaulted.
