NCA WINS BIG AT THE NAIROBI INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR
The National Construction Authority (NCA) participated in the 2024 Nairobi International Trade Fair (NITF), held from 23rd to 29th October, under the theme “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.” This theme highlighted the importance of aligning Kenya’s economic development with environmentally sustainable practices, drawing participants from sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, housing, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), banking, hospitality, education, and public and private institutions.
This year, NCA secured 2 nd place in the Best Regulatory Authority and Corporation Stand category, a recognition that highlights its efforts in promoting sustainable construction practices and oversight in the sector.
In line with the theme of promoting climate-smart and sustainable trade initiatives, NCA showcased a variety of innovative solutions aimed at fostering environmentally- friendly practices in Kenya’s construction industry. The Authority’s stand featured a range of initiatives designed to promote compliance with building regulations, enhance safety, and introduce sustainable construction materials and technologies.
Part of the initiatives included a mock construction site that offered visitors a first- hand experience of how a construction site should be properly managed to avoid project suspension. Another key element of NCA's stand was the "X Mark" awareness campaign, aimed at educating the public about buildings marked with the “X.” The “X.” mark is used to designate structures that do not meet safety or regulatory standards, ensuring that Kenyans are informed about the risks associated with non-compliant buildings. This initiative is part of NCA’s larger effort to enhance public awareness around building safety and regulatory compliance, crucial elements for the construction sector's sustainability.
Further, the Authority’s achievements and milestones in shaping Kenya’s construction landscape were also showcased. Key among them was the National Building Regulations 2024 and Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives it carries out. School going children who visited the stand were also treated to a Spin and Win challenge while being taken through various issues about the Authority and the Construction industry as a whole.
NCA’s successful participation in the 2024 Nairobi International Trade Fair underscores its commitment to promoting sustainable construction practices and supporting Kenya’s broader economic and environmental objectives.
