KCB COMMITS TO GOLD SPONSORSHIP OF CEA 2025

Nairobi, Kenya, August 6, 2025 – Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting excellence in the construction industry by partnering with the National Construction Authority (NCA) as a Gold Sponsor for the upcoming Construction Excellence Awards.

During a meeting held on 21st July 2025 at KCB Towers, the bank pledged a total sponsorship of KES 1.5 million, supporting two prestigious award categories: Overall Contractor of the Year (KES 1,000,000) and Overall Fundi of the Year (KES 500,000).

Speaking during the meeting, Eng. Maurice Akech, MBS, Executive Director of the National Construction Authority, lauded the long-standing relationship between the two institutions. He noted that KCB is not only the Authority’s primary banker, handling its GOK allocations, mortgage scheme, and pension custodianship, but also a valuable ally in championing accountability within the sector. “We are delighted to have KCB on board for the Construction Excellence Awards. Their insistence on NCA licensing as a requirement for facility approvals has helped entrench compliance within the industry,” said Eng. Akech.

On his part, Mr. David Nyamu, General Manager, Sovereign and Public Sector at KCB, reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting key sectors including construction, agriculture, and health. “Our partnership with NCA over the years reflects our shared commitment to industry growth, professionalism, and sustainability,” he stated.

As part of the discussions, KCB also expressed interest in partnering with NCA on green and sustainability initiatives within the construction sector. Both parties acknowledged the sector’s significant contribution to global carbon emissions and agreed to explore collaborative solutions through follow-up engagements.

The Construction Excellence Awards are scheduled for 31st October 2025.

This partnership underscores the shared vision between NCA and KCB to recognize and reward industry excellence, while accelerating the transition towards a more sustainable built environment.
